Unique Treatments
PRN Physical and Occupational Therapy treats its clients utilizing a number of evidence-based and effective techniques: Therapeutic Exercise, Manual Therapy, Gait Training, Balance Training, Daily Activity Re-training, Functional Education, Modalities (such as Ultrasound and Electrical Stimulation), and Self-Care Activity.  Listed below are some of our diverse array of treatments applied to give our patient's the optimal chance at a successful outcome.
  1. PENS Electrical Stimulation
    PENS Electrical Stimulation
We offer many forms of electrical stimulation for various patient needs, however, we are one of few facilities in the WNY area to offer Patterned Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (PENS). This form of E-stim directly closely replicates the body's normal muscle and nerve firing patterns (based on EMG research). PENS can help reduce disuse muscle atrophy (muscle wasting), decrease muscle spasms, and improve recruitment of muscles for favorable muscle performance following trauma, injury, or surgery
  2. Ultrasound
    Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a modality that transforms electricity into sound waves to provide a plethora of benefits to the body. This modality may be used to heat and loosen both superficial and deep tissue, increase tissue elasticity, initiate tissue healing, decrease pain, reduce scar tissue, and apply topical pain medications (phonophoresis).
  1. Therapeutic Cupping
    Therapeutic Cupping
Cupping is an ancient form of therapy applied for soft tissue injuries and restrictions. It works by creating a vacuum that brings blood and lymph to a specific area to increase circulation and healing. They also reduce adhesions between the skin and underlying connective tissues to promote increased free movement.
  2. Paraffin Wax Treatment
    Paraffin Wax Treatment
Paraffin Wax Treatment helps increase blood flow, relax the muscles, increased skin elasticity, and soften hardened skin. It is common to see this treatment used with osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathic pain, and scleroderma.
